Governance
The Canadian Pride Historical Society (CPHS) is committed to eliminating barriers and improving accessibility for all persons in a manner that respect dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity. As part of this commitment the Board of Directors has adopted an Accessibility Policy to help guide the organization on developing an Accessibility Plan to address accessibility and barriers. The policy also commits the organization to the following:
- The CPHS will develop and maintain accessibility guidelines for accessibility requests, communications, meetings/public events, using assistive devices, and support persons.
- The CPHS will provide, on request, all publicly available information in an accessible format in a timely manner. The CPHS will work with the person with the disability on how best to provide this information with the resources available within the organization.
- The CPHS will strive to provide barrier-free access to the goods and services provided by the organization.
- The CPHS will provide both internal and external stakeholders the ability to submit accessibility requests that will be tracked within a registry.
- Upon request, the CPHS will offer accommodations to applicants during all phases of the recruitment process and work with volunteers to accommodations for their disability (temporary or permanent) to ensure they are able to perform their volunteer duties.
- The CPHS will provide training to all volunteers on how to handle accessibility requests and their responsibilities as it pertains to this policy and the Accessibility Plan.
